Back to college this week and into the frantic world of January exams.
The Sunday previous contemplated going to see 'I am Legend' with Carrington but then decided I really needed to do some more revison so buried my head in a Physics text book for most of the day. In the evening went down to the Ring O Bells for the Network Core meeting. First one of these that I've been two, was surprised at the number of people there, imagnined considering how big the district is that there would of been a few more people. Got told about lots of up and coming events that they were organised. I took particular interest in their Actvity Weekend which runs at the end of March/start of April. Should provide some good oppurtunities and with any look the lakes may be in condition! Just need to magically be able to take advantage of the 'over 18's' rule while still 17..... hmm..... how to do that?
Headed on to the Ship after the Core meeting to a minimal drinks, myself, Carrington, Jenny, Lucy and Chris managed to scratch 2nd prize in the quiz winning all manner of free alcohol branded merchandise. After a few drinks headed home with Graham.
Saw the Physio on tuesday afternoon, good news that my knee is significantly improving. Had some electrode therapy, and some ultrasound before leaving feeling much better than I did when I went in.
Wednesday was the date for my resit of a maths module from last year, spent the morning leading up to it frantically working through previous' years papers. Once you've done a few you've effectively done all as theres only so many way to ask you about a certain aspect. Effectively all you have to do in the exam then is plug in the numbers in their question into the method you've all ready lernt. I reckon its the best way to revise anyhow! The exam itself went pretty well, hoping i've done bette than last time anyhow (D).
Thursday saw more physio, knee was really starting to shape up and with more therapy from Ray it got even better. Its possible now to get around without the crutches, I am doing at home but still carrying them with me at college incase my knee goes.
In the evening it was the first meeting after Christmas for Yeti. With Helen in India/Nepal we've been 'lent' Rob who only lives a few hundred metres from the hut but has been helping this last year at Bubble Factor in Ormskirk, coincidently (and not unlike any other explorer unit in the district!) arch enemy and rivals of Yeti! Went through some administrative stuff for the first half, sorting moonlight, plugging future events before lauching into some typical physical games. Managed to get in Dodgeball, Jelly Racing (I broke my wrist 4/5 years ago doing this!), Sock Wrestling, Human Pyramid & Human Tower Building. Fun had by all I beleive.
Friday was my long anticipated follow-up oppointment with the orthapedic surgeon, should of been a week earlier but it was cancelled. Again good news that it is improving massively however there is still a limited range of movement due to the pain its causing me if I bend it more than 45degrees. Going for a MRI (Scary big electromagnet scanner) on Monday and then seeing the doctor again on friday to discuss the results. Depeding on the outcome of the results it will either be letting it heal of its natural ways or a keyhole surgery to repair whatever is damaged. My aim still is to be fit for snow & ice, which if there are no complication and if I put in the time strengthening it in the gym etc. should be possible... only time will tell.
So after being very frustrated with myself and this injury there is finally a hint of light at the end of the tunnel, its a long way off yet and its not going to get much better quickly but with some work I should get there. It best happen anyway as the withdrawel symptoms from mountains are really kicking in!.... I've taken to sharpening my axe to keep them at bay!
