Met Ali and Mark in Newburgh on Friday evening and set off with haste to Peak District. Took us about 1hr30 to get down there. Got a phone call on the way from Chris saying he had got off at the wrong station due to being engrossed in Harry Potter and was walking to the campsite.
Arrived at Hardhurst Farm campsite, no sign of Chris. Pitched tents and soon after Chris arrived, then down to the Pub at the bottom of the road. Was met by George and Wayne and then eventually Phil A an Geoff. Talked loads, decided tomarrow's venue would be Froggartt (Spelling!?) and then back to the site to crash.
Was woken earlyish by the university climbing club that had pitched up next to us during the night, they seemed far too orgainised for a uni club though with mess tents and central catering...! Had some breakfast, sorted racks and then jumped in the cars and down through Hathersage to Froggartt. Got to the crag after some eventful downclimbing with Darren and his dog. Chris and Ali set off up a Vdiff and me and Mark decided to have a crack at a S. Both routes seemed to be much harder than their grades, although this was probably down to us getting used to grit. After these me moved down to the popular area where Mark led a diff and then I did a reletively easy VS. We then had a bite to eat before doing a HVD and then a S while Ali led the VS I'd done earlier, very impressive for one of her first leads! Packed up soon after and headed back via a posh pub that woulden't serve us side orders without ordering a main meal!
Unfortunately the pub near the campsite had a function on so we had to walk down the road to a slightely more up-market one, one could say that we lowered the tone of the restaurant. we did however eat like kings, I had fillet steak stuffed with stilton and wrapped in smoked bacon, superb. The music in there was starting to depress Chris so the younger contingent moved down to the pub the campsite with Chris hoping for some dancing at the function. After many more beers, comical crotch stuffing and inquests into whether or not Wayne had webbed feet we headed back to the campsite.
Sunday's destination was Burbage North, we got up and attempted to pack the car with suprisingly large amounts of sucess considering that its not that big a viechle and we had mine, Mark's, Ali's and Chris's kit aswell as bodies! Got to Burbage and kicked off by leading a S with Geoff and then a very thrutchy S chimney with Chris. Then moved down to the Sentinel area and did a HVD and then a VD with Ali. Back to the car park and back home for 6/7pm. Top weekend.
