DESC and that...

This weekend was the District Explorer Scout camp, I'm usually away for this Skiing but because of Easter being weird I was around for it this year. Went up on friday evening with Bob... going via Ormskirk and then Lancaster! Met Stu in Lancaster and did the first stop on his pub-crawl with him. Reminded him that in 6 days time we were going to Switzerland, a fact he had managed to forget! Then to KFC for tea and finally back on the motorway.

Got to GT, tent already pitched for me which was ace, cheers Olivia and Oliver! Chatted with many folk for several hours and then to bed.

Led a group walking over Wetherlam and Swirl How on the saturday with Carrington. Pretty wintery in places with lots of snow for sculpting things...! (Private joke!). Got down for soon after 4pm and into Ambleside. My Rab Latok jacket has ceased to be waterproof over the last few months so took it into the shop and asked what they could do about it with me going to the Alps on friday. Got the best response I could of hoped for. The guy's reconised there was a fault with the jacket and said I could pick any jacket in the shop up to the value of £250 to have there and then! Came out grinning with a very new, and very orange Haglofs Spitz Jacket.

Back to camp for a curry prepared by Helen and then to the Ecology room for a District Meeting. We all then watched watched 'Cool runnings' afterwards... well I say all but I went to sleep on the floor in the back! Apparentyl Chris came to check I was alive! Back to the campfire for muchness of singing and dancing late into the night, good fun.

Sunday was pretty good, a mix of loads of activities. Managed to scare many folk with a 12ft pole with a glove on the end... including Nige while he was taking a piss! Broke camp and had many photographs, the home via Lake Windimere for the traditional Yeti swim... i still can't feel my toes it was so cold!

Went to drinks last night, hoped to go to Arriba and was utterly dissopointed when it was shut! Got a lift hime from Jenny in Ms. Norris which was cool. Off to Glasgow today as I've got an interview at the University tomarrow. Should eb back sometime tomarrow night, before having a day in the Lakes on geography fieldtrip on wednesday... and Friday I go to Switzerland... Its going to be a busy week!
